Although the EU AI Act has not been ratified as of the writing of this blog post, its something that the whole world is watching with baited breath. Its perhaps going to be the first piece of legislation that is exclusively designed to prevent societal harm and harm to fundamental human rights, and countries and organisations around the world are waiting to learn and adapt it.

So if you are someone who wishes to learn more about this upcoming piece of legislation, then here are some FREE resources to get you started.
EIPA Course on AI & EU Law
The European Institute of Pubic Administration (EIPA) has very generously made its module on "AI and EU Law : definition and developments" freely available. This primer module introduces the concept of Artificial Intelligence, its definition, and different types and techniques for using it. Additionally, this course looks into the new framework on Artificial Intelligence proposed by the European Commission in April 2021.
I found this course to be super information and a great resource from someone who is looking to gain an introductory understanding of the EU AI Act.
It takes about 45 minutes to complete it and covers the following topics:
What is Artificial Intelligence and how to define it? (20 min)
Practical exercise (2 min)
The Artificial Intelligence Act (20 min)
Practical exercise (2 min)
Additional readings (optional)
Youtube Video from AI Coffee Break with Letitia
I found the video titled "The first law on AI regulation | The EU AI Act" on the proposed regulation found on the Youtube channel "AI Coffee Break with Letitia" quite succinct in explaining the implications of the EU AI Act.
How to regulate foundation models: can we do better than the EU AI Act?
Now if you are jumping onto the generative AI bandwagon and worried how the EU AI Act will impact your offerings, this video from the Alan Turing institute.
And if you wish to see a practical demonstration of the analysis of large language models assessed against the proposed EU AI Act, then this article from Stanford HAI is a great resource.
Thats all for now on the list of resources I could recommend to catch up on the proposed regulation, I will keep the blog post updated with additional resources I manage to find during my own course of investigation on the EU AI Act.
